Connie Denaburg has been the director of Cape Coast Volleyball Club for 29 years. Connie began her coaching career at Merritt Island High School in 1995 as the varsity coach and led them to 5 straight Cape Coast Conference titles in the late 1990's and early 2000's. The Merritt Island Lady Mustangs were District champs her last 5 years through 2001. She led them to a state finalist appearance in 2001 and finished in the top 8 in the state for another 3 years.
Connie has been coaching club volleyball for approximately 29 years along with her director duties. She has coached 18's, 16's, 15's, 13's, 10's, and now concentrates her efforts on getting the younger ages involved in local leagues, camps and clinics year round.
In 2010, her Cape Coast 12 NIKE team was ranked 2nd in the state and won the USAV Florida Region Bid tournament to qualify for the Junior National tournament held in Reno, NV where the team placed 19th overall in the nation.
Since the year 2000, Cape Coast Volleyball club has assisted over 100 athletes in playing at the next level in college at Division 1, 2 & 3 programs as well as NAIA schools.
In 2010 Connie was recognized by the USAV Florida Region on behalf of Cape Coast Volleyball Club as "Club Director of the Year".
In 2018 Connie was inducted into the Space Coast Hall of Fame.
Connie graduated from Carson-Newman College in Tennessee with a B.S. in Accounting and Recreation while playing four years of collegiate volleyball and tennis for the Lady Eagles. She later earned an MBA from Nova University and spent ten years working as an accountant at Kennedy Space Center. Connie has received her IMPACT training and is CAP II certified with the USAV Florida Region.
Connie and her husband Dan have 4 children, Karly, Mason, Lexy, and Brady.
Please welcome Mitch Jacobs back to Brevard County. Mitch Jacobs retired this season from Marshall University after 17 years as the Head Coach, leaving the school as the all-time leader in coaching victories. Coach Jacobs was the director of River Cities Thunder Volleyball Club, the most successful Juniors program in the region and in the state of West Virginia, culminating with the 2018 River Cities 18's team capturing the USA 18 - American National Championship. River Cities Volleyball has placed over 40 players through its 17 years at Universities from NCAA Division 1 to NAIA powerhourses and everywhere in between.
Coach Jacobs has 26 years experience as a collegiate Head Coach. Prior to Marshall, he led Fairfield University to 3 straight MAAC Championships, 3 straight NCAA tournament appearances and holds the school's highest career winning percentage (.757). Before Fairfield, Coach Jacobs was the Head Coach at Florida Tech (6 Seasons), where he also holds the all-time wins mark in that programs' history.
Coach Jacobs has always taken great pride in working within the youth volleyball community at each of his stops. He has worked within the USA Volleyball young programs over his 28 years of collegiate coaching. In the Huntington area, Coach Jacobs and the River Cities program have been the force behind a major increase in USA Volleyball participation over the past 17 years. Junior club volleyball in the Huntington/Charleston area has increased from 35 members in 2002 to over 300 members and 7 clubs between Ashland, KY and Charleston, WV.
Mitch and his wife Laura have two children, Jayden and Lucas.
